{"id":742840,"date":"2022-04-06T11:02:59","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T15:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?p=742840"},"modified":"2022-04-06T11:03:02","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T15:03:02","slug":"tennessees-kennedy-chandler-declares-for-the-2022-nba-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/news\/nba\/tennessees-kennedy-chandler-declares-for-the-2022-nba-draft\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee&#8217;s Kennedy Chandler Declares for the 2022 NBA Draft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the college basketball season now over, the stars of the season &#8211; and the NBA&#8217;s stars of tomorrow &#8211; are now preparing to make the jump to the next level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of those stars is Tennessee&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Kennedy+Chandler\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Kennedy+Chandler\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Chandler<\/a>, who declared for the NBA Draft on Tuesday via Twitter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thank you Vol Nation \ud83e\udde1 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DM85XI81aV\">pic.twitter.com\/DM85XI81aV<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Kennedy Chandler (@KChandler_1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KChandler_1\/status\/1511445491044605952?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;After much prayer and deliberation, I am extremely excited to announce that I will be declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft and hiring agent Ryan Davis,&#8221; Chandler wrote on Twitter, announcing his departure from the Volunteers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Chandler deciding to hire an agent, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/info\/agent-client-list\/Ryan-Davis\/828\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/info\/agent-client-list\/Ryan-Davis\/828\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Davis of Rep 1 Sports<\/a>, representing Minnesota Timberwolves guard <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Jaylen+Nowell\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Jaylen+Nowell\" target=\"_blank\">Jaylen Nowell<\/a>`, he is forfeiting his remaining eligibility. Which means he can no longer return to college to play basketball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandler will join the NBA Draft waters by some other members of the SEC, including LSU&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Tari+Eason\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Tari+Eason\" target=\"_blank\">Tari Eason<\/a> and Auburn&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Jabari+Smith\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.slamonline.com\/?s=Jabari+Smith\" target=\"_blank\">Jabari Smith<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandler just wrapped up an immensely successful freshman season for the Vols. Chandler averaged a team-high 13.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game and was a member of the All-SEC Freshman Team and the All-SEC Team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Backed by the solid play of Chandler and his teammates, the Volunteers finished the season 27-8 and won the SEC tournament, where Chandler was named tournament MVP.
